Today I came across the story of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, build in 1982 and the controversy around the design and the architect as well.
Maya Lin is a hero for having stood by her design and it taught me something quiet important... that good design needs to be protected and valued. Good architecture should be kept simple and honest.
She valiantly protected that at such a young age and I am forever a fan... The background of her story can be seen here
